Royal Oak High School IB MYP
ROHS students exemplify the IB MYP Learner Profile. Intercultural Awareness as global citizens, use of a world language, and commitment to service and action are all part of the open-minded, inquiring, and caring community at ROHS. Ms. Shrode's art students created the mural above to celebrate international-mindedness. Mural can be viewed at Learning Commons entrance. This spring, staff continued to work on IB MYP units and assessments. Teachers and students are using MYP assessment rubrics to show achievement levels. Students are engaged in critical thinking through performance tasks that show their knowledge and understanding. Also, 10th graders worked towards the MYP Personal Project, which is the culminating project for IB MYP students. 10th grade students worked hard to complete projects and shared them with the community at our Open House in April. See Personal Project link for more details. Students documented their progress through Process Journals and gained feedback from teachers in real time on google classroom and at the culmination of the project. Project supervisors and students grew from this experience as they grappled with the rubrics to make meaning and understand the way that the projects are assessed and what the IB standards for success are. The 9th graders are now learning about the process, so they can begin to plan for their projects next year. Kudos to all for their thinking during the project process! |
